After the execution of the ALM study an investment plan for the medium-term has to be determined. This medium-term investment plan focuses on the assets in more detail. During such a study it is possible to include more alternative asset classes such as hedge funds (several styles), infrastructure and various types of real estate. These types of investments are often not included in the ALM study, because it is hard to define long-term expectations about these categories. Besides alternative investment categories it is also possible to look at the impact of active policy, duration match strategies and rebalancing rules.
Furthermore, a more qualitative and practical advise is given. ORTEC can help the board of a pension fund in judging proposals of various asset managers or help in the implementation of a duration overlay. ORTEC can also help the board in writing an investment plan for the upcoming year.
