EDHEC Risk Management Center and Ortec Finance organized a seminar on the topic “ALM in Private Wealth Management” on the 17 of June in Geneva and 18 of June in Zurich The purpose of the conference was to present the first year’s results of the academic research on the use of ALM methodology in PWM.
In addition to the presentation by Professor Martellini Ortec Finance presented its reasons for promoting this client centric advisory approach and gave examples on how it applies to private investors with different targets and levels of wealth.
The more than 150 attendees to the conferences supported the conclusions based on both the academic research and the observations and experience of Ortec Finance.
In fact, the evidence, supporting that the closer the connection between the goals set by the individual and the investment decisions made in ALM, the higher the probability of the individual reaching their objectives, was considered very strong.
In addition, educating private investors about the risks in investments was considered important: examples presented focused on Tail risks in connection with short term objectives and the risk of increased inflation in regard of medium term goals.
