The PEARL system consists of two components, the PEARL Calculation Manager (CM) and the web based reporting tool Pearl Web Portal (WP). The architecture of PEARL aims at providing a flexible platform for a fully transparent performance evaluation process. Flexibility is secured through two main approaches. The actual investment process can be modelled with the help of our unique Investment Decision Process (IDP) model, and the availability of many forms of return calculations as well as attribution methodologies. In addition, being fully data driven, PEARL reduces a great deal of work for performance teams. Transparency is the result of the open database architecture and the integrated ETL tool.
The PEARL Calculation Manager is the core of the PEARL system. It can be considered as a high-level programming language, designed for defining, compiling, and scheduling calculations, typical for performance-evaluation. Whereas, the CM is the both the calculation engine and data management tool, the Web Portal serves as the GUI for the end-users or performance analysts. The application allows end-users to drill down to security level and to export to Excel time series over arbitrary periods. Apart from standardized reports, the PEARL Web Portal enables users to perform ad-hoc attributions analyses.
